Description
Antique c1850 Pot of Flowers Quilt measures 70 by 77 inches. It is comprised of 16 blocks, 15.5 by 15.5 inches, set straight 4 x 4 with 8 appliqué Pot of Flowers blocks and 8 alternating solid white blocks. There is an off white border 4.5 inches along 2 sides and 7 inches along 2 sides. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. Small buttonhole stitches outline several flowers. Thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied green binding, possibly a later replacement. The quilting is wonderful. And the Pot of Flowers design very well done. It comes with a page from a quilt show that it was displayed at with some provenance. Condition report:
It is in poor condition with the Turkey red solid abrading and worn overall, small holes, as well as other discolorations and small spots. Binding may be a replacement. US Shipping $30
