Description
Vintage c1940 Pinwheel Star measuring 78 by 90 inches. It is comprised of 30 squares, 11 by 11 inches, set straight, 5 by 6, with 15 pieced blocks and 15 alternating solid white squares. There is a 5.5 inch solid white border followed by a 3.5″ solid blue border, and a 3 inch solid white outer border. It is hand and machine pieced, and machine quilted! And very nicely. This is period machine quilting with arcs, flowers, feathered wreaths, and undulating vine. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white binding. It is in fair condition with several small spots and edge wear. But this is some of the nicest 1940s machine quilting I have seen.
