Description
Antique painted paper folding fan featuring hand-colored printed scenes on both sides with courtly 18th century figures outdoors. The ribs and guards are made of black lacquered wood embellished with gold leaf, hand painted colorful floral accents, and applied abalone flakes. It has a mother of pearl rivet and an embossed brass loop. It is in fair condition with missing abalone pieces, past repairs at the head/bottom of the guard, tape used to repair a damaged rib, and wear areas on the leaf. Measures 11 in x 21 in. Accompanied by a hinged, black lacquered wooden box with hand painted Asian motifs. Please see the photos for details. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding.
