Description
Antique c1920 Star of Bethlehem Quilt with a Bars Back, most likely from PA. It measures 95 by 96 inches. The Star of Bethlehem is comprised of diamonds about 2 inches along one side, using solid orange, green, lavender, and red fabrics. Setting squares and triangles are Satellite Stars in the same colors and set against a lavender ground. There is a solid green 5 inch inner border, 1.25 inch lavender frame, and a 5.5 inch green outer border. It is hand and machine pieced, and expertly hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a strippy bars reverse in pink and blue prints. The edge is finished with an applied green solid binding, by machine. It is in good condition with a few small spots, and pencil lines are evident to mark the quilting. Very graphic use of color.
