Description
Antique c1880 Touching Stars Quilt measuring 72×72″. It is comprised of 9 stars made of small 60 degree diamonds, about 1.25 inches along the side. Color palette includes brown orange yellow and off white. There is a one inch orange inner border and a 1.5 inch dogtooth outer border of orange and off white. Thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse the edge is finished with a narrow orange fabric piping. It is hand and machine pieced and densely quilted. It is in good condition with overall toning and small spots. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. This quilt can be seen on page 54 of “Vintage Quilts” co-authored by Bobbie Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer, quilt store co-owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
