Description
Vintage c1960 Golden Eagle Kit Quilt by Lee Wards, measuring 75 by 89 inches. Medallion style quilt with a Golden Eagle in the center in a circle of 13 stars. The Eagle is holding a long stemmed rose in each talon and there is a ribbon bow below the Eagle, on all 4 sides, and on the corner of the quilt. Each bow also has a rose. It is hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied off white bias tape binding edge. It is in good condition with minor discolorations along the edge. The blue dots, or marks for quilting, are still evident. The workmanship is very good! From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer, quilt store co-owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
