Description
Vintage 1939 Signature Quilt using the Apple Core block in cotton sateen, wools, and other fabrics. It measures 65 by 76 inches. The Apple Cores measure about 5.5 by 8 inches. It is hand pieced, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is a medium loft batting and a silky blue reverse. The edge is finished with and applied gray binding. There are several names hand embroidered in the center of the quilt including Gertie Swarey, Lydia Swarey, Sarah Peachey, Hettie Peachey, Sister Katie Jan 1939, Lydia Zook, Emma King, Katie Yoder, and several more. This could be an Amish or Mennonite quilt based on some of the names and color palette. It is in good condition with some fading along the bottom, one fabric starting to deteriorate, and minor edge wear along the bottom. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
