Description
Antique c1920 Double Irish Chain Quilt measuring 77 by 77 inches. It is comprised of 42 blocks, 9 by 9 inches, set straight, 6 by 7, with 21 checkerboard blocks and 21 alternating off white squares with hand appliquéd orange square corners. There is a 13 inch swag and leaf border along 3 sides with a scalloped edge mimicking the swag. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. Notice the hand quilted birds in the swag border. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with and applied off white sateen fabric binding with an orange piping. The orange piping surrounds the perimeter of the pieced field as well. It is in fair condition with overall toning and spots and color migration from the orange fabric. The entire quilts the off white in the orange fabric are sateen fabrics. The quilting and workmanship are excellent. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
