Description
2 Antique 19th Century Red and Green Quilts in AS IS condition. Includes c1870 Whig Rose Quilt measuring 80 by hundred and one inches. Comprised of 12 blocks, 16 by 16 inches, set straight 3 by 4, with 3 inch pieced square in a square red and white stashing and inner border and a 10.5 inch white with red and green swag, leaf, and but outer border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is a medium loft cotton batting and an white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with and applied Teal blue fabric binding. It is in poor condition with overall toning, large areas of discoloration and spots, small holes, and deterioration in the Turkey red fabric. Along with a c1860 Princess Feather quilt measuring 84 x 80 inches. There are 4 8 feather motifs rating out of a red center flower, with red paper cut or Scherenschnitte stars between them, and in the center. There is a 2 inch dogtooth appliquéd frame border around the quilt. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding. It is also in poor condition with overall toning, spots, and the Turkey red fabric is overall deteriorating.
