1795-1825 French Toiles- 5 pieces. The group includes 5 pieces of antique French toile in several colors. featuring 1 blue roller print toile with a scene of a country woman and a child riding a mule surrounded by sweeping branches of raspberries, currants, and peaches, as well as birds. It measures 35.5” x 17” and is featured on pg 152 of AQT. In good condition with some minor discolorations. 1 French brown toile featuring pastoral scenes with figures and animals surrounded by flowing garlands of flowers and fruit. It measures 17” x 28 1/4” and is featured in 2 different books: pg 152 of AQT and pg 36 of “Toile- The Storied Fabrics of Europe and America which lists it as a 20th century adaptation of a mid 19th century roller print. It is in good condition with a few dark spots. 1 small French purple toile fragment featuring a scene of a clergy man on a horse greeting a country family, the scene is surrounded by intertwined grape vines. It measures 8 3/4” x 17” and is featured on page 153 of AQT. In good condition. 1 piece of French red toile depicting biblical scenes set in Egypt with multiple figures in various tableaus. It measures 21” x 21.5” and is featured on pg 153 of AQT. In good/fair condition with several small holes, spots, and toning. 1 small piece of French blue/white toile featuring intertwined branches, flowers, and vines printed on linen. It measures 9” x 12” and is in fair condition with slight toning and several spots. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
