1780-1810 French Purple Toiless – 5 Pieces. The group features 5 pieces/scenes of 1870-1810 French roller print purple toile. 4 pieces appear to be a seasons of life story depicting different scenes of a man and womans life together: such as a young man kneeling by his lady’s side, a young couple courting, a middle aged couple sitting by the fire together, and a lady and child mourning at a mans grave. All 4 of the pieces are featured on pages 150-151 of Antique Quilts & Textiles co-authored by Bobbie Aug. The group measures: young man kneeling 13 3/4” x 16 3/4”, young couple courting 13 3/4” x 14”, man and woman by the fire 14.5” x 15”, woman and child mourning 16” x 16 1/4”. 1, 1795-1825 English or French purple roller print toile depicting an unknown Grecian scene with a dog and 3 figures and a partial scene with a seated cupid using his bow and quiver as a boat and arrows as oars. It measures 13 3/4” x 14 1/2” and is also featured in AQT on page 151. The group is in good condition with hanging grid puncture marks from being quilted at some point visible when held to the light. The mourning piece has a few spots on the mothers face. The Grecian fragment is in good condition. Please see the photos. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
