2 Commemorative Small Quilts. Includes the 9-11 Coffin Quilt by Bobbie Aug in 2002, 29.5×35″. On a pieced bars background in red and blue, are off white coffin shapes arranged in a 9-11 pattern. It is machine pieced, machine appliqued, and machine quilted. There is a sleeve for hanging and a label on the back. In very good condition. Along with an art quilt “Columbine” remembering the Columbine School Shooting in 1999. The quilt was made by Alexandra (Sandy) Schweitzer Crystal Lake, IL in 2005. There is a label on the back listing the victims, and that this quilt was inspired by Lauren Townsend’s Mother on the 1 year anniversary during the minute of silence, looked up and saw an unusual light in the heavens. It was gifted to Bobbie Aug as a Thank You in 2011. In very good condition. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
