Description
Vintage c1930 House on Hill Quilt measuring 61 by 80 inches. It is comprised of 18 blocks, 9 x 9 inches, set on point and staggered, 3 by 4, with 3 inch green sashing, setting triangles, corners, and 3.5 inch border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with a green applied binding. It is in fair condition with several spots, and overall edge wear. There is a sleeve attached to the back along the top for hanging, and signed by Bobby Aug. This quilt can be seen on page 37 of “Vintage Quilts” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
