Description
Vintage c1940s Double Wedding Ring Quilt – Applique. The quilt has applique elements, instead of pieced wedges are dots, a dot in the intersecting block, and a 4 petaled flower in the center of each ring. Measures 75″ x 94″, it is comprised of 20 interlocking rings, 26.5″ in diameter, set straight, 4×5. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off-white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white binding. It is in good condition with minor fading to a few appliqued dots. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
