Description
Vintage c1950 Amish Trip Around the World Quilt measuring 87×87″. Comprised of 1369 1.5″ squares, set straight, 37 by 37, with color placement creating the Trip Around the World design. There is a 14″ wide purple border with grey cornerstones. Fabrics include silk crepe, acetate, and more. It is machine pieced and hand quilted in black thread. There is a thin cotton batting and nylon and cotton reverse. It is in very good condition with only a minor light discoloration. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. This quilt can be seen on page 25 of “Antique Quilts & Textiles” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
