Description
Antique c1920 Cutwork Applique Quilt from Vermont, measuring 67×71″, with snowflake like motifs in the center and 4 corners, tree like motifs in the corners, and other motifs. It is machine pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with a facing. It is in good condition with just small discolorations. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt, and signed by Bobby Aug. The workmanship is excellent. This quilt can be seen on page 28 of “Vintage Quilts” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
