Antique c1850 Center Medallion Applique Quilt from PA, measures 84×96″. From page 9 of “Antique Quilts & Textiles” “applique with evening stars surround. Leaf and rose appliqued border. Cotton. Hand pieced, hand appliqued, hand quilted”. There is a thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse. There is an applied off white binding applied by hand. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt, and signed by Bobby Aug. In fair condition with small spots, some deterioration in the Turkey red prints, and some abrading in the Turkey Red Solids. That border is absolutely TO DIE for! From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
