Description
Antique c1900 Coxcomb Applique Quilt measuring 85 by 86 inches. It is comprised of 9 blocks, about 24 by 24 inches, set straight, 3 by 3, with a 7.5 inch pink border. It is hand and machine pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and a pieced reverse with 2 shirtings. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back and applied by hand. It is in good condition with several small spots and minor fading in the border. There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
